We've decided to go military...
After pondering, praying and certain events, John has decided to join the military for the last two years of dental school. For those of you who don't know anything about having the military help you out with school, here's how it goes... They pay for two years of our school and we give them three years in return (working on a base as a dentist). This school is so expensive we think it will be the best for us. We don't have to do anything for the military until Spring 2010. The pros outweighed the cons. The only negative thing about joining the military might end up being a really positive thing...(moving where ever they tell us to..even out of the country). Isn't it funny where life takes you...who would've guessed? It just shows that sometimes what you want isn't always what's best for you.

Wow. This was totally unexpected. Way to make the decision that is best for your family...you guys will make a difference wherever you go...
Congratulations! That will be such a fun adventure. Randy and Mel are in Japan! (they did the same thing) How neat is that! :)
Wow! It's so hard to be big sometimes and make decisions that will effect your whole family. Atleast that is how I feel. Atleast you've decided and can go forward with life. Good luck and congrats.
Hey-my cousin's husband did this and they got to choose where they wanted to go! They chose Germany because he had served a mission there. They really liked it.
I think that's great! You get the benefit of them paying for education and John gets to work as a dentist.
What a big decision but great opportunity. Which branch of service did he join? Does he have to do basic training or anything like that?
John chose Army. He has to do Officer basic training (6 weeks) when we get out of school in 2010.
That's crazy!!! But I'm proud of you guys! Best of luck!
You have to make the best decision for your family. You are 2 smart cookies.. you're not going to jump into anything without thinking through it first. It sounds like a great opportunity.. I'm excited for you!
Good for you guys - minimal debt will be great and I hope you get to go somewhere fun for a few years!
One of my cousins did that (but he's a doctor) and they were in Hawaii the entire time. You must just luck out and go to a really cool place!
